Description

A comforting and flavorful soup featuring tender homemade wontons in a rich broth with fresh vegetables, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package of wonton wrappers
  • 1 pound ground chicken or turkey
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups bok choy, chopped
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the wonton filling by combining the ground chicken or turkey, soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, and minced garlic in a mixing bowl.
  2. Mix until all ingredients are thoroughly blended.
  3. Assemble the wontons by placing a teaspoon of filling in the center of a wonton wrapper.
  4. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water and fold in half to form a triangle, pressing to seal.
  5. Pinch the two corners of the triangle together to close the wonton.
  6. Repeat the process until all wontons are prepared.
  7. Bring the chicken broth and water to a gentle boil in a large pot.
  8. Carefully add the wontons to the pot and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until they float.
  9. Stir in the bok choy and sliced mushrooms and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  10. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  11. Serve hot, garnished with sliced green onions.

Notes

For a spicier soup, add hot sauce to taste. You can also freeze uncooked wontons for later use.
