Description

A deliciously comforting Weeknight Wonton Soup that combines savory chicken or turkey with tender dumplings in a fragrant broth filled with bok choy and mushrooms.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package wonton wrappers
  • 1 pound ground chicken or turkey
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups bok choy, chopped
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine ground chicken or turkey, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, and minced garlic in a mixing bowl. Stir well until well incorporated.
  2. Take a wonton wrapper and place a teaspoon of the filling in the center. Moisten edges with water and fold into a triangle, pressing to seal.
  3. Bring the corners of the triangle together and pinch to form the wonton shape. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
  4. Bring chicken broth and water to a boil in a large pot. Carefully add wontons, cooking for 5-7 minutes until they float to the surface.
  5. Stir in chopped bok choy and sliced mushrooms, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes until tender. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Ladle soup into bowls and garnish with sliced green onions. Enjoy warm!

Notes

Make sure to cover the wontons with a damp towel to prevent them from drying out. For added flavor, consider chili oil or toasted sesame oil as toppings.
