Description

Delightful heart-shaped cookies, perfect for expressing love on Valentine’s Day.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Divide the dough in half and roll out one portion on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness.
  7. Use cookie cutters to cut out heart shapes or other festive shapes.
  8. Place the cut-out cookies onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes, until edges are lightly golden.
  9. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Once cooled, decorate with frosting, sprinkles, or any festive decorations.

Notes

Try adding almond extract for extra flavor or chill the dough for better shaping.
