Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Divide the dough in half and roll out one portion on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness.
- Use cookie cutters to cut out heart shapes or other festive shapes.
- Place the cut-out cookies onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes, until edges are lightly golden.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, decorate with frosting, sprinkles, or any festive decorations.
Notes
Try adding almond extract for extra flavor or chill the dough for better shaping.
