Description
A layered dish that combines seasoned ground beef, crispy hash browns, zesty salsa, and gooey cheese, baked to perfection.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- 2 cups frozen hash browns
- 2 cups salsa
- 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the ground beef: Begin by heating a skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned and no longer pink, about 5 to 7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- Add taco seasoning: Stir in the taco seasoning and follow package instructions, cooking for a couple more minutes.
- Create the layers: In a slow cooker, layer half of the frozen hash browns, half of the cooked beef, a third of the salsa, and a third of the cheese. Repeat this process.
- Top it off: Spoon any remaining salsa over the top and add dollops of sour cream.
- Cook to perfection: Cover your slow cooker and set it on low for 4 to 6 hours until the cheese is bubbly.
- Garnish and serve: Sprinkle chopped green onions over the top before serving.
Notes
For variations, use ground chicken or turkey for a lighter version or add black beans for extra nutrition.
