Description

A delightful pastry combining flaky puff pastry with a rich cream cheese filling and sweet strawberries.


Ingredients

  • 4 cups sliced strawberries
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 8 oz. cream cheese, room temperature
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 puff pastry sheets, thawed
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten with 1 teaspoon water
  • 2 – 3 tablespoons sugar for topping, optional
  • ¼ cup strawberry jam, optional for topping
  • 1 cup powdered sugar for glaze
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract for glaze
  • 2 – 3 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, toss the sliced strawberries with cornstarch and sugar. Set aside for 10-15 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, mix the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Roll out thawed puff pastry sheets and cut into 4×4 inch squares.
  4. Place a dollop of cream cheese mixture and a spoonful of strawberry mixture in the center of each square. Fold corners to seal.
  5. Brush tops with egg wash and sprinkle with sugar if desired.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake pastries on a lined baking sheet for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Mix powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk for glaze until smooth.
  8. Allow pastries to cool before drizzling with glaze. Serve warm.
