- 1 sheet puff pastry, velvety and flaky
- 1 egg, beaten
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp lemon juice
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
- 2 tbsp sugar, granulated
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Unroll the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface and cut it into squares or rectangles, about 3×3 inches each.
- In a bowl, beat together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon juice until smooth.
- Place a spoonful of the cream cheese filling in the center of each pastry square.
- Fold the edges around the filling, creating a pocket, and brush with the beaten egg.
- In a small bowl, mix the sliced strawberries with sugar and lemon juice, and let them sit for 10 minutes.
- Place the pastries on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-18 minutes until golden.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly, then spoon the strawberry mixture on top of each Danish.
Notes
For best results, ensure puff pastry is chilled before use. Avoid overfilling to prevent messy baking.
