Description

Delicious sweet rolls combining cheesecake and strawberries with a creamy filling.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup whole milk, warmed
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for filling)
  • 1/2 cup fresh strawberries, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for filling)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for filling)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 23 tbsp heavy cream or milk (for glaze)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Combine warm milk, water, and granulated sugar in a large bowl.
  2. Sprinkle yeast over this liquid and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  3. Add melted butter, egg, and salt to the yeast mixture.
  4. Gradually add in the flour, stirring until a dough begins to form.
  5. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  6. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise for 1-1.5 hours until doubled in size.
  7. Prepare the filling by beating together cream cheese, granulated sugar, powdered sugar, strawberries, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  8. Roll out the risen dough into a large rectangle, approximately 12×18 inches.
  9. Spread the cheesecake filling evenly over the dough.
  10. Roll the dough into a log and slice into 8-10 rolls.
  11. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, ensuring they’re close together.
  12. Cover the rolls and let them rise again for 30-45 minutes until puffed.
  13. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  14. Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  15. Make the glaze by whisking powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and heavy cream or milk until smooth.
  16. Drizzle the glaze over the warm rolls after cooling for 5 minutes.

Notes

Adding a pinch of cinnamon or lemon zest can enhance flavor. You can also use frozen strawberries, just thaw and drain before mixing.
