Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare two 9-inch round cake pans by greasing with butter and dusting with flour.
- Blend together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl; set aside.
- Combine the sugar and vegetable oil in a large mixing bowl, beating until well mixed.
- Crack in the eggs one by one and mix thoroughly after each addition. Then add the vanilla extract.
- Incorporate the dry ingredients with the buttermilk, alternating between them, mixing gently until just combined.
- Add the green food coloring and mix to achieve your desired shade.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and smooth the surface.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
- Cool the cakes in the pans for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
- Prepare the frosting by beating together cream cheese and butter until creamy; gradually add powdered sugar, vanilla, and salt.
- Spread frosting on top of one cake layer, place the second layer on top, and frost the entire cake.
- Decorate with green sprinkles or shamrock decorations.
