Description

A flavorful dish combining seared steak and pasta enveloped in a tangy honey BBQ sauce with a spicy kick.


Ingredients

  • 2 steaks (flank or ribeye, sliced thinly against the grain)
  • 8 oz pasta (penne or fusilli)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp sriracha or hot sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup bell pepper, chopped
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley or cilantro, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Begin by cooking the pasta according to package instructions in a pot of salted boiling water. Once al dente, drain it well and set aside.
  2. In a large pan, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Season the sliced steak generously with salt and pepper and sear for 2-3 minutes per side until browned. Remove the steak and set it aside.
  3. Add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil to the pan. Toss in the finely chopped onion and bell pepper, sautéing for 3-4 minutes until softened. Add the minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute.
  4. Reduce the heat and stir in the BBQ sauce, honey, and sriracha. Let it simmer for 2 minutes.
  5. Return the cooked pasta and seared steak to the pan, tossing everything together to ensure it’s well coated in the sauce.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley or cilantro if desired.

Notes

Consider marinating the steak for at least an hour for enhanced flavor. Adjust sriracha for desired spice level.
