Description

A delightful dish combining shrimp and fresh spinach in a rich, creamy sauce, perfect for family dinners or elegant gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon Creole seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • Pinch of nutmeg (optional)
  • 2/3 cup freshly shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 2/3 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups fresh spinach leaves, chopped
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled, deveined, and cut into bite-sized pieces

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Melt the butter over medium heat in a large nonstick pan.
  3. Add the diced onion and cook until soft and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  5. Sprinkle the flour over the mixture, stirring continuously for about a minute.
  6. Gradually whisk in the heavy cream, ensuring no lumps.
  7. Add the Worcestershire sauce, Creole seasoning, crushed red pepper flakes, and optional nutmeg, stirring until well mixed.
  8. Fold in both the Parmesan and mozzarella cheeses until melted.
  9. Mix in the sour cream and spinach, cooking just until the spinach wilts, about 2 minutes.
  10. Remove from heat and gently stir in the shrimp.
  11. Transfer the mixture into a greased baking dish and smooth it out.
  12. Bake for 15 minutes, or until bubbly and lightly browned on top.

Notes

Consider adding grated lemon zest for a refreshing citrus note or sprinkle panko breadcrumbs on top for extra crunch.
