Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 12-cup muffin tin with colorful cupcake liners.
- Whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
- Beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the buttermilk and milk.
- Fold in the salted caramel sauce gently.
- Divide the batter evenly among the cupcake liners, filling each about two-thirds full.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool the cupcakes in the tin for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- Prepare the frosting by beating softened butter, powdered sugar, salted caramel sauce, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until smooth.
- Pipe or spread the caramel frosting on each cupcake.
- Drizzle with extra salted caramel sauce and garnish with coarse sea salt.
Notes
Start with room-temperature butter and eggs for a better batter. Consider adding a sprinkle of sea salt between frosting layers for texture contrast.
