Description

A luscious dessert combining the elegance of red velvet cake with the creamy goodness of cheesecake, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp red food coloring or beetroot powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp white vinegar
  • 16 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Fresh berries (for garnish)
  • Red velvet cake crumbs (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9-inch springform pan with parchment paper and cooking spray.
  2. In a mixing bowl, sift together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add buttermilk, vegetable oil, egg, vanilla extract, red food coloring, and white vinegar to the dry ingredients and mix until smooth.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let it cool completely.
  5. In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese and sugar until creamy. Mix in sour cream, eggs, vanilla, and flour until just combined.
  6. Pour the cheesecake mixture over the cooled red velvet cake layer.
  7. Bake the cheesecake for 40-50 minutes until the edges are set but the center is still slightly jiggly.
  8. Allow to cool for an hour at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  9. Whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form, then spread over the top of the cheesecake.
  10. Garnish with fresh berries and red velvet cake crumbs, then slice and serve chilled.

Notes

Avoid over-mixing the cheesecake filling once the eggs are added to prevent air bubbles. Consider using a water bath to prevent cracks.
