- 2 blocks (8 oz each) Pepper Jack cheese, shredded
- 2–3 jalapeños, diced
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1 egg
- 1 cup milk
- 1 1/2 cups bread crumbs
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Combine the shredded Pepper Jack cheese and diced jalapeños in a bowl.
- Shape the cheese mixture into balls that are approximately 1 1/2 inches in diameter.
- Place your cheese balls on a cookie sheet and pop them into the freezer for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat your deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- Set up three bowls: one with flour, one with whisked egg and milk, and one with the combined breadcrumbs, cayenne, paprika, and garlic powder.
- Roll each cheese ball in the flour, then in the egg mixture, and finally coat with the breadcrumbs.
- Fry the cheese balls in hot oil in batches for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from oil and let them drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces.
Notes
To achieve the perfect crunch, ensure cheese balls are well frozen before frying. Experiment with different spicy cheeses or add herbs for extra flavor.
