Description

Delight in these soft, fluffy buns filled with creamy custard and fresh raspberries for a comforting treat.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup softened unsalted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk (for custard)
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for custard)
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup fresh raspberries, mashed
  • 2 tbsp sugar (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a bowl. Stir well.
  2. Warm the milk and add it with butter and egg to the bowl.
  3. Knead the dough until smooth, then let it rise for about 1 hour.
  4. Prepare the custard by heating milk in a saucepan.
  5. Whisk egg yolks, sugar, and cornstarch in a separate bowl.
  6. Slowly pour warm milk into the yolk mixture while whisking.
  7. Return this mix to the saucepan and cook until it thickens, then add vanilla.
  8. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and shape it into balls.
  9. Fill each dough ball with custard and let them rise for 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 18-20 minutes.

Notes

Use fresh raspberries for best flavor, and allow the buns to cool slightly before serving.
