Description

A gourmet twist on the classic grilled cheese, featuring basil pesto, creamy mozzarella, and provolone on artisan bread.


Ingredients

  • 4 slices artisan bread
  • 23 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 tbsp basil pesto
  • 12 oz sliced mozzarella cheese
  • 12 oz sliced provolone cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat a large cooking pan over medium to medium-low heat.
  2. Spread softened butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Spread basil pesto on the inside of each slice of bread.
  4. Layer mozzarella cheese on one half and provolone on the other half of the bread.
  5. Place the bread slices in the preheated pan with the buttered side down.
  6. Toast until the bread is golden-brown and the cheeses melt completely.
  7. Combine the two halves together and apply light pressure.
  8. Let the sandwich rest for 5-10 minutes before cutting into desired shape.

Notes

Experiment with different artisan breads or add slices of fresh tomato for extra flavor.
