Description

A luxurious twist on traditional French toast, infused with creamy custard and topped with a crunchy caramelized crust.


Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of brioche bread, sliced
  • 6 large eggs, whisked
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for topping)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • Fresh berries (for serving)
  • Maple syrup (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and arrange the brioche slices in a single layer.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the brioche slices and press gently to soak.
  4. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Combine the brown sugar, melted butter, and vanilla extract in a small bowl.
  7. Spread the brown sugar mixture evenly over the soaked bread.
  8. Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  9. Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar, topped with fresh berries and maple syrup.

Notes

For best results, use day-old brioche and allow adequate soaking time.
