Description

A flavorful fusion of cabbage and seasoned meat, these oven baked burgers are nutritious, easy to prepare, and versatile for different dietary preferences.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 small head of cabbage (cut into thick slices)
  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef (or ground turkey for a lighter option)
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 egg (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice the cabbage into 1/2 inch thick rounds and brush each side generously with olive oil.
  3. Combine the ground beef, chopped onions, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce, and the optional egg in a mixing bowl.
  4. Form patties from the meat mixture that are similar in size to your cabbage rounds.
  5. Arrange the cabbage burgers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between each one.
  6. Bake for approximately 25 minutes.
  7. Remove the tray from the oven and sprinkle shredded cheese over each patty, then broil for an additional 3-5 minutes until melted.
  8. Garnish with fresh herbs or a drizzle of sauce before serving hot.

Notes

For a bit of heat, add red pepper flakes to the meat mixture. Explore different cheeses for added flavor.
