Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl.
- Cream together butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one by one, mixing well after each addition, then stir in vanilla extract and orange zest.
- Alternate adding the dry mixture with orange juice and buttermilk until just combined.
- Divide the batter between the two prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool cakes in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- Beat softened butter in a mixing bowl, then gradually add powdered sugar, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and orange juice to make frosting.
- Assemble by spreading frosting on one cake layer, placing the second layer on top, and frosting the entire cake.
