Description

A simple yet transformative recipe to create a crusty, flavorful loaf with minimal effort.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups bread flour (or plain/all-purpose, 450g)
  • 1 tablespoon white granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons dried, instant, or rapid-rise yeast
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (375 ml)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a large bowl.
  2. Add the warm water and olive oil, mixing until fully incorporated.
  3. Prepare to rise by spraying the top of the dough with cooking spray, covering with plastic wrap, and letting it rest for 2 to 3 hours.
  4. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) with a Dutch oven inside for 30 minutes.
  5. Shape the dough on a floured surface, folding it to create a round shape.
  6. Transfer the dough onto parchment paper and place it into the hot pot, covering and baking for 30 minutes.
  7. Remove the lid and bake for an additional 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Cool for 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

For a crunchier crust, place a pan with water in the oven while baking.
