Description

A comforting masterpiece of layered noodles, rich meat sauce, creamy ricotta, and gooey mozzarella, perfect for family gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (24 oz) jar marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 12 cooked lasagna noodles
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  3. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, cooking for 3-4 minutes until tender.
  4. Stir in the marinara sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper, and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Blend ricotta cheese, 1 cup of mozzarella, Parmesan, egg, and parsley until smooth.
  6. Spread a small amount of meat sauce on the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  7. Layer 4 lasagna noodles, followed by one-third of the ricotta mixture, then one-third of the meat sauce.
  8. Repeat layering two more times, finishing with meat sauce on top.
  9. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese over the top.
  10. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  11. Rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For added flavor, sauté mushrooms with the onions or add spinach to the lasagna. Allowing the lasagna to rest enhances its flavors.
