Description
A delightful twist on classic comfort food, these cheesy mashed potato puffs are golden brown, fluffy, and crispy, perfect for snacks or appetizers.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups mashed potatoes (prepared and cooled)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Gather a large mixing bowl. In this bowl, combine the prepared mashed potatoes, shredded cheddar cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, eggs, flour, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix these ingredients thoroughly until they’re well combined and the texture is smooth.
- Stir in the chopped parsley to enhance flavor and color.
- Scoop the mixture and form it into small balls or puffs, about 1-inch in size.
- Roll each puff in breadcrumbs to ensure an even coating.
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, fry the puffs in batches for approximately 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the puffs from oil and let them drain on a paper towel to eliminate excess oil.
- Serve the Mashed Potato Cheese Puffs hot with your favorite dipping sauce or just as they are.
Notes
Consider using leftover mashed potatoes for added flavor, and experiment with different cheeses for variety. These can be baked at 400°F (200°C) for a healthier option.
