Description

A delightful dessert combining chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry layers, perfect for any gathering.


Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • ¼ cup strawberry puree (or strawberry jam)
  • 23 drops red food coloring (optional)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 23 tbsp heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs and vanilla extract one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry mixture and whole milk, alternating until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter into three bowls; leave one plain, mix cocoa powder into the second, and stir in strawberry puree and optional food coloring into the third.
  7. Pour each flavored batter into prepared cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  8. Cool the cakes before assembling them, layering chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry with frosting in between.
  9. Frost the outside of the cake and decorate as desired.

Notes

Use room temperature ingredients for the best results. Experiment with different fruit purees for unique flavors.
