Description

Hot Honey Chicken Cutlets are a delightful dish that perfectly balances savory fried chicken and sweet, spicy honey, enhanced by a crunch from golden-brown panko breadcrumbs.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 thin chicken cutlets
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tbsp hot sauce (or more to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine the buttermilk, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Place the chicken cutlets into the marinade, ensuring they are fully submerged. Allow them to marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Set up a dredging station with flour in one bowl, whisk the egg in another, and fill a third bowl with panko breadcrumbs.
  4. Dredge each cutlet individually: dip them first in the flour, then the egg, and finally coat them in panko breadcrumbs.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  6. Carefully place the cutlets in the hot oil, cooking for 3–4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Warm the honey in a small saucepan, stir in the hot sauce and optional red pepper flakes.
  8. Remove the chicken cutlets from the skillet and let them drain on paper towels. Drizzle or brush hot honey over each cutlet while warm.
  9. Serve immediately to impress your guests or family.

Notes

For extra crunch, consider double-dipping your cutlets. You can customize the heat level based on your preference.
