Description

A delightful homemade cherry ice cream that is creamy and rich, perfect for summer treats and satisfying sweet cravings.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups fresh cherries, pitted and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine 2 cups of heavy cream, 1 cup of whole milk, and 3/4 cup of granulated sugar in a medium saucepan.
  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of milk to create a slurry.
  4. Stir the cornstarch slurry into the warm cream mixture and cook until it thickens slightly.
  5. Remove the mixture from heat and add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and 1/2 teaspoon of almond extract.
  6. Cool the mixture to room temperature.
  7. Toss the chopped cherries with 1 tablespoon of lemon juice.
  8. Pour the cooled cream mixture into your ice cream maker and churn according to instructions.
  9. Fold in the cherries after churning.
  10. Freeze the mixture in an airtight container for at least 4 hours.
  11. Serve the ice cream in bowls or cones, optionally garnished with mint.

Notes

Use fresh, ripe cherries for the best flavor. Allow the mixture to cool thoroughly before churning for the best results.
