Ingredients

  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for buttercream)
  • Food coloring (pink, red, or your choice)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until fully combined.
  4. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
  5. Incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring gently until a dough forms.
  6. Roll the dough out on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  7. Cut out heart shapes using a cookie cutter and place them on a lined baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are light golden brown.
  9. Cool on a wire rack.
  10. Beat the softened butter for the frosting until smooth and mix in powdered sugar and milk until desired consistency is reached.
  11. Add vanilla extract and food coloring to achieve your desired colors.
  12. Pipe small roses onto cooled cookies.
