- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 2–3 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for buttercream)
- Food coloring (pink, red, or your choice)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until fully combined.
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
- Incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring gently until a dough forms.
- Roll the dough out on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
- Cut out heart shapes using a cookie cutter and place them on a lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are light golden brown.
- Cool on a wire rack.
- Beat the softened butter for the frosting until smooth and mix in powdered sugar and milk until desired consistency is reached.
- Add vanilla extract and food coloring to achieve your desired colors.
- Pipe small roses onto cooled cookies.
