Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup Valentine’s-themed sprinkles or M&Ms
  • For the frosting:
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 23 tablespoons heavy cream (or milk)
  • Red or pink food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Beat together the softened butter, light brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips and Valentine’s-themed sprinkles or M&Ms.
  6. Line a heart-shaped pan with parchment paper; evenly spread the cookie dough in the pan.
  7. Bake for 18-22 minutes, until golden around the edges.
  8. Cool the cookie cake in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  9. Beat together the frosting ingredients until smooth and creamy.
  10. Frost the cake once cooled and decorate as desired.
  11. Slice and serve.
