- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes, drained
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 1 1/2 cups cooked pasta (elbow macaroni or rotini)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 cup crushed potato chips or breadcrumbs
- 1 tbsp melted butter
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the ground beef and cook until browned and crumbly.
- Incorporate the chopped onion and minced garlic, and soften for about 2-3 minutes.
- Stir in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, and frozen peas. Season with oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Remove from heat when the mixture is simmering.
- Combine cooked pasta with the beef mixture in a mixing bowl.
- Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Sprinkle the cheddar and mozzarella cheeses on top.
- Mix the crushed potato chips or breadcrumbs with melted butter and sprinkle over the casserole.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Let it cool for about 5 minutes before serving.
