Description

A comforting dish that combines flavorful ground beef, tender pasta, and rich cheeses, topped with crunchy potato chips.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes, drained
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 1/2 cups cooked pasta (elbow macaroni or rotini)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup crushed potato chips or breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the ground beef and cook until browned and crumbly.
  4. Incorporate the chopped onion and minced garlic, and soften for about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Stir in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, and frozen peas. Season with oregano, salt, and pepper.
  6. Remove from heat when the mixture is simmering.
  7. Combine cooked pasta with the beef mixture in a mixing bowl.
  8. Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  9. Sprinkle the cheddar and mozzarella cheeses on top.
  10. Mix the crushed potato chips or breadcrumbs with melted butter and sprinkle over the casserole.
  11. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  12. Let it cool for about 5 minutes before serving.
