Description
A comforting dish featuring caramelized onions, savory beef stew, and soft egg noodles, topped with melted Swiss cheese.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb beef stew meat
- 1 large onion, sliced thinly
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 8 oz egg noodles
- 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add your beef stew meat. Let it sear without crowding the pan.
- Once browned, remove the meat and set it aside on a plate.
- In the same skillet, toss in the thinly sliced onion. Stir occasionally for about 10-12 minutes until caramelized.
- Mince your garlic and add it to the skillet, stirring for about one minute until fragrant.
- Return the beef to the skillet and nestle it among the onions.
- Pour in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Raise the heat until it reaches a gentle simmer.
- Cover and let it bubble gently for approximately 30 minutes.
- While that simmers, prepare your egg noodles according to the package instructions.
- After 30 minutes, check the beef. If tender, stir in the cooked noodles gently.
- Finally, shower the dish with shredded Swiss cheese and cover until the cheese melts.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.
Notes
Brown the beef well for optimal taste and do not rush the caramelization of the onions.
