Description

A comforting dish featuring caramelized onions, savory beef stew, and soft egg noodles, topped with melted Swiss cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb beef stew meat
  • 1 large onion, sliced thinly
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 oz egg noodles
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add your beef stew meat. Let it sear without crowding the pan.
  2. Once browned, remove the meat and set it aside on a plate.
  3. In the same skillet, toss in the thinly sliced onion. Stir occasionally for about 10-12 minutes until caramelized.
  4. Mince your garlic and add it to the skillet, stirring for about one minute until fragrant.
  5. Return the beef to the skillet and nestle it among the onions.
  6. Pour in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Raise the heat until it reaches a gentle simmer.
  7. Cover and let it bubble gently for approximately 30 minutes.
  8. While that simmers, prepare your egg noodles according to the package instructions.
  9. After 30 minutes, check the beef. If tender, stir in the cooked noodles gently.
  10. Finally, shower the dish with shredded Swiss cheese and cover until the cheese melts.
  11. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.

Notes

Brown the beef well for optimal taste and do not rush the caramelization of the onions.
