Description

A fluffy, olive oil-kissed Italian bread that’s easy to make and perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 tsp)
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp fresh rosemary, chopped
  • Coarse sea salt for topping

Instructions

  1. Combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast in a mixing bowl. Stir gently until mixed.
  2. Wait for about five minutes until the mixture is bubbly and foamy.
  3. Add the olive oil, flour, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about five minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a damp cloth. Let it rise for about an hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  7. Punch down the dough to deflate it and place it on a greased baking sheet.
  8. Spread the dough to cover the surface and create dimples with your fingers.
  9. Drizzle more olive oil over the top and sprinkle with rosemary and coarse sea salt.
  10. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Let it cool slightly before slicing to enjoy.

Notes

For deeper flavors, let the dough rise longer. You can also experiment with different herbs and toppings.
