Description

A warm and hearty one-pot meal combining savory ground beef, tender potatoes, and creamy soups topped with melting cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup onion, diced
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 5 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 can (10.7 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 can (10.7 oz) condensed cream of chicken soup
  • 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheese
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare your baking dish by spraying a 9×13 inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  3. Cook the beef, onions, and garlic together in a large skillet over medium heat until the beef is thoroughly browned.
  4. Drain any excess fat and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Layer the sliced potatoes in the prepared baking dish.
  6. Top the potatoes with half of your cooked beef mixture.
  7. Whisk together the condensed soups along with the evaporated milk and regular milk in a separate bowl.
  8. Pour half of the soup mixture over the beef layer.
  9. Sprinkle with half of the shredded cheese.
  10. Repeat the layering process with the remaining potatoes, beef, soup mixture, and cheese.
  11. Cover with foil, tenting it, to keep the moisture in while it bakes.
  12. Bake for 1 hour, then remove the foil and continue to bake for an additional 30 minutes.
  13. Let it stand for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Consider adding diced bell peppers or using a mix of cheeses for more flavor. You can also substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef.
