Description

A comforting blend of potatoes, savory ground beef, and melted cheese, perfect for family dinners and gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups frozen hash browns, thawed
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  3. Add the ground beef to a skillet over medium heat and cook until browned, then drain excess fat.
  4. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until the onion becomes translucent.
  5. Combine thawed hash browns, cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, half of the cheddar cheese, salt, pepper, and paprika in a large bowl.
  6. Incorporate the beef mixture into the potato medley.
  7. Spread the mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish and top with remaining cheddar cheese.
  8. Bake for 45-50 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  9. Remove from the oven and let it cool, then garnish with green onions.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute ground turkey and use low-fat sour cream and cheese. Can be made ahead and refrigerated or frozen for later.
