- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 (21-ounce) can premium canned cherry pie filling
Instructions
- Heat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Pour the melted butter into the bottom of an 8-inch square baking dish.
- Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon in a bowl.
- Gradually add the milk and vanilla extract, stirring until smooth.
- Pour the batter over the melted butter without stirring.
- Spoon the cherry pie filling evenly over the batter.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool for a few minutes before serving warm, preferably with ice cream.
Notes
For a healthier version, substitute whole wheat flour or sugar alternatives. Consider using fresh cherries when in season.
