Description
A delightful dish that brings comfort with layers of cheesy goodness, savory ground beef, and hearty ravioli.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- ½ medium onion, chopped
- 1 pound extra lean ground beef
- 3–4 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt & pepper, to taste
- 3 cups marinara sauce (about 24 oz jar), divided
- 20 oz uncooked cheese ravioli (refrigerated)
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat, add the chopped onion, and sauté for 4–5 minutes until translucent.
- Add the ground beef and minced garlic to the skillet, cooking until the beef is browned (about 8 minutes), draining any excess fat.
- Stir in 2 cups of marinara sauce and let it simmer for a few minutes.
- Spread 1 cup of marinara sauce on the bottom of a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Layer half of the uncooked ravioli, then half of the beef mixture, followed by half of the cheeses. Repeat these layers, finishing with a generous layer of cheese on top.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and broil for a few minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
Notes
For a burst of flavor, consider adding chopped fresh basil or parsley. This recipe can easily be made vegetarian by substituting the ground beef with mushrooms or lentils.
