Description

A delightful dish that brings comfort with layers of cheesy goodness, savory ground beef, and hearty ravioli.


Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ medium onion, chopped
  • 1 pound extra lean ground beef
  • 3–4 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • 3 cups marinara sauce (about 24 oz jar), divided
  • 20 oz uncooked cheese ravioli (refrigerated)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat, add the chopped onion, and sauté for 4–5 minutes until translucent.
  3. Add the ground beef and minced garlic to the skillet, cooking until the beef is browned (about 8 minutes), draining any excess fat.
  4. Stir in 2 cups of marinara sauce and let it simmer for a few minutes.
  5. Spread 1 cup of marinara sauce on the bottom of a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  6. Layer half of the uncooked ravioli, then half of the beef mixture, followed by half of the cheeses. Repeat these layers, finishing with a generous layer of cheese on top.
  7. Cover with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and broil for a few minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Notes

For a burst of flavor, consider adding chopped fresh basil or parsley. This recipe can easily be made vegetarian by substituting the ground beef with mushrooms or lentils.
