Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder in a bowl.
- Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until smooth and fluffy.
- Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract, if using, to the butter mixture.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until combined.
- Roll the dough into small balls, optionally rolling them in colored sugar.
- Place the dough balls on the baking sheet, spacing them apart, and gently press each ball with a fork.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes until the edges are light golden brown, then cool on a wire rack.
