Description

A delightful dessert combining rich chocolate and moist bananas, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups mashed ripe bananas
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare two 8-inch round cake pans by greasing and flouring them.
  2. Combine the mashed bananas, sugar, brown sugar, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract in a large bowl.
  3. Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the buttermilk.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared pans.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Layer and frost as desired.

Notes

Use high-quality cocoa powder for better flavor. Don’t skip the buttermilk for moisture.
