Description

Delightful cupcakes combining the classic flavors of chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry in one indulgent treat.


Ingredients

  • 1 3⁄4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1⁄2 tsp baking powder
  • 1⁄2 tsp baking soda
  • 1⁄2 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • For the strawberry cream filling:
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup pureed strawberries
  • For the vanilla cream filling:
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • For the chocolate ganache topping:
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 4 oz semisweet chocolate chips
  • Optional garnish: Sprinkles, Fresh strawberries

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder until well combined.
  3. Whisk the eggs, buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients, mixing until the texture is uniform.
  5. Pour in the hot water while stirring gently.
  6. Divide the batter among the cupcake liners, filling each about two-thirds full.
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Beat the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla for the strawberry filling until stiff peaks form, then fold in the pureed strawberries.
  9. Beat the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla for the vanilla filling until stiff peaks form.
  10. Cut a hole in the center of each cupcake and fill them with the strawberry and vanilla cream fillings alternatively.
  11. Heat the heavy cream for the ganache until simmering, then stir in the chocolate chips until smooth.
  12. Spoon the ganache over each filled cupcake.
  13. Decorate with sprinkles or fresh strawberries if desired.
  14. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

Use room-temperature ingredients for better mixing. Cupcake bases can be made in advance and stored in an airtight container.
