Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Dr. Pepper soda
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup Dr. Pepper soda (for glaze)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder (for glaze)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare an 8×8-inch baking pan by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
  3. Melt the unsalted butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  4. Stir in the granulated sugar until dissolved, then remove from heat.
  5. Whisk in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract and Dr. Pepper soda.
  6. Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
  7. Fold the dry mixture into the wet ingredients until combined.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  10. Cool the brownies completely in the pan.
  11. Prepare the glaze by combining the remaining Dr. Pepper soda, butter, and cocoa powder in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  12. Whisk in the powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth.
  13. Pour the glaze over the cooled brownies and allow it to set before cutting into squares.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute half the butter with unsweetened applesauce. Experiment with different sodas for varied flavors.
