- 1 box Devil’s Food cake mix
- 1 box (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding
- 5 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup sour cream or buttermilk
- 3/4 cup brewed coffee
- 2 cups Nestlé Toll House chocolate chips
- 1 stick salted butter (for ganache)
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder (for ganache)
- 1/2 box powdered sugar (for ganache)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (for ganache)
- 3 tbsp milk (for ganache)
- 1/2 cup pecan pieces (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×13-inch pan by greasing and flouring it.
- Combine the box of Devil’s Food cake mix and the instant chocolate pudding mix in a large bowl.
- Add the eggs, vanilla extract, vegetable oil, sour cream or buttermilk, and brewed coffee. Mix until smooth.
- Fold in the Nestlé Toll House chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 30-35 minutes. Check for doneness with a toothpick.
- Prepare the ganache by melting the salted butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Stir in cocoa powder, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk. Mix until smooth.
- Drizzle the ganache over the cooled cake and sprinkle with chopped pecan pieces.
- Set the ganache for about 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
For a moister cake, consider using buttermilk instead of sour cream. Garnish with fresh raspberries or whipped cream for added flavor.
