Description

A decadent chocolate cake featuring moist Devil’s Food layers, rich ganache, and plenty of chocolate chips, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 box Devil’s Food cake mix
  • 1 box (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup sour cream or buttermilk
  • 3/4 cup brewed coffee
  • 2 cups Nestlé Toll House chocolate chips
  • 1 stick salted butter (for ganache)
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder (for ganache)
  • 1/2 box powdered sugar (for ganache)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for ganache)
  • 3 tbsp milk (for ganache)
  • 1/2 cup pecan pieces (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×13-inch pan by greasing and flouring it.
  2. Combine the box of Devil’s Food cake mix and the instant chocolate pudding mix in a large bowl.
  3. Add the eggs, vanilla extract, vegetable oil, sour cream or buttermilk, and brewed coffee. Mix until smooth.
  4. Fold in the Nestlé Toll House chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 30-35 minutes. Check for doneness with a toothpick.
  6. Prepare the ganache by melting the salted butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  7. Stir in cocoa powder, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk. Mix until smooth.
  8. Drizzle the ganache over the cooled cake and sprinkle with chopped pecan pieces.
  9. Set the ganache for about 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For a moister cake, consider using buttermilk instead of sour cream. Garnish with fresh raspberries or whipped cream for added flavor.
