Description

A delightful blend of rich flavors and comforting textures, this dip combines the zest of Buffalo sauce with creamy cheese, making it a perfect appetizer for any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons finely diced onions
  • 2 tablespoons finely diced celery
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 4 oz cream cheese (room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons ranch or blue cheese salad dressing
  • 1/2 cup Cholula brand Original hot sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 2 cups cooked, chopped chicken breast (1 lb uncooked)
  • 1 1/2 cups mozzarella or cheddar cheese, divided
  • 12 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
  • 12 tablespoons fresh parsley/green onions and blue cheese crumbles (optional, for garnish)
  • 1 loaf baguette (sliced, buttered, and toasted)

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a large deep skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and celery, sautéing until tender and fragrant. Then add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute.
  2. Reduce the heat to low and add the room-temperature cream cheese, stirring until it melts completely.
  3. Mix in the sour cream, salad dressing, and hot sauce, combining until smooth.
  4. Season the dip with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and dried parsley. Stir in the chopped chicken breast until evenly coated.
  5. Incorporate half of the shredded cheese, stirring until fully melted. If the dip is too thick, stir in heavy whipping cream until desired consistency.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a casserole dish, smooth the top, and sprinkle the remaining shredded cheese over the dip. Broil on low until the cheese is melted and golden brown, about 3 to 5 minutes.
  7. Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley or green onions and optional blue cheese crumbles, alongside toasted baguette slices for dipping.

Notes

Use room-temperature cream cheese for a smoother blend. Feel free to adjust the spice level with more or less hot sauce.
