Description

A flavorful and aromatic dish combining Cajun sausage and rice, perfect for family gatherings and cozy dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Cajun sausage, sliced into rounds
  • 1 cup long-grain rice
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 tsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onions (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the sausage and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the onion, bell pepper, and garlic, allowing them to soften for a few minutes.
  4. Mix in the rice, Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper, and cook for about 2 minutes.
  5. Pour in the chicken broth, bringing it to a simmer.
  6. Cover and reduce heat to low, cooking for 18-20 minutes until the rice is tender.
  7. Garnish with green onions if desired, and serve warm.

Notes

For a healthier option, substitute turkey sausage or add additional vegetables like spinach. Adjust liquid and cooking time if using brown rice.
