Ingredients

  • 12 oz bowtie pasta (farfalle)
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the bowtie pasta and cook according to the package instructions until it’s al dente, about 10-12 minutes.
  2. Drain the pasta and set it aside.
  3. Add the ground beef to a large skillet over medium heat. Break apart the meat as it browns until it’s no longer pink.
  4. Drain any excess fat.
  5. Stir in the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing for 3-4 minutes until the onion is translucent.
  6. Add the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a gentle simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  7. Toss in the cooked bowtie pasta and stir well to coat.
  8. Add the grated Parmesan cheese, allowing it to melt into the dish.
  9. Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil and additional Parmesan cheese.

Notes

Ensure to cook the pasta al dente and drain excess fat from the beef for a lighter dish. Sprinkle extra Parmesan cheese on top before serving.
