Description

Delicious and creamy spinach-filled pinwheels wrapped in flaky pastry, perfect for parties and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet refrigerated puff pastry dough
  • 1/2 block (4 oz / 115 g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 package (10 oz / 280 g) frozen spinach, thawed and squeezed dry
  • 2 cups / 230 g / 8 oz freshly grated mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F / 180°C. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Combine the thawed and drained spinach, softened cream cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper in a medium bowl.
  3. Whisk together the egg and 2 tablespoons of water for the egg wash in a small bowl.
  4. Unroll the puff pastry dough onto a clean, lightly floured surface and brush with egg wash.
  5. Spread the spinach mixture evenly over the pastry, leaving a 1/2-inch edge.
  6. Sprinkle the grated mozzarella cheese generously on top of the spinach filling.
  7. Roll the pastry starting from one edge into a tight log. Brush the outside with egg wash and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  8. Cut the log into 1-inch slices and arrange them on the prepared baking sheet.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 15 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Let cool for 5 to 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Ensure to squeeze out excess moisture from the spinach to avoid sogginess. Experiment with different cheeses for unique flavors.
