Description

The Beef Grilled Cheese Sandwich is an ultimate comfort food that combines melted cheddar cheese and savory roast beef between perfectly toasted bread.


Ingredients

  • 2 slices of bread (your choice of white, whole wheat, or sourdough)
  • 1/2 lb thinly sliced roast beef
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 2 slices cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for grilling)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  2. Butter one side of each slice of bread generously.
  3. Spread a layer of mayonnaise on the unbuttered side of one slice, and Dijon mustard on the other slice if desired.
  4. Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, into the skillet.
  5. Layer a slice of cheddar cheese, followed by a generous pile of roast beef, and top with another slice of cheddar.
  6. Top it with the second slice of bread, with the mayonnaise/mustard side facing inward.
  7. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side until the bread is golden brown and the cheese melts.
  8. Press down gently with a spatula to ensure even grilling.
  9. Remove from the skillet, let it rest for a minute, then cut in half and serve immediately.

Notes

For a gourmet twist, try adding fresh herbs or arugula after grilling. You can also use different types of cheese for variety.
