Description

A delightful and cozy dessert featuring sweet apples and warm cinnamon, perfect for gatherings or family enjoyment.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups of apples (sliced, preferably Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of melted butter
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt

Instructions

  1. Prep the apples: Start by peeling, coring, and slicing the apples into thin wedges.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. Cream butter and sugar: In a separate bowl, cream together the melted butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Incorporate eggs and vanilla: Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Combine wet and dry ingredients: Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk.
  6. Prepare the pan: Pour the batter into a greased 9-inch cake pan.
  7. Top with apples: Arrange the sliced apples artfully on top of the batter.
  8. Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 45 to 55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Cool and serve: Allow the cake to cool for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.

Notes

For added moisture, consider mixing in a quarter cup of unsweetened applesauce. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
